The Los Angeles Clippers pay a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in a rut as they’ve lost six of their past nine games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short to the Nuggets in a 130-128 overtime road loss on Wednesday. Ivica Zubac led the team with 32 points on 15 of 19 shooting, Reggie Jackson added 28 points with 12 assists while Brandon Boston Jr. chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Clippers shot 53 percent from the field and 15 of 39 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 15-point lead, before coming up painfully short as the Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon drained the game-winning 3-pointer with just 2.2 seconds left on the clock in overtime.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won 10 of their past 12 games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after routing the Magic in a 123-110 home win on Wednesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 50 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, Tobias Harris added 21 points on eight of 13 shooting while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 54 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and trailed by 10 points at halftime, before exploding for a season-high 47 points in the third quarter to make it look easy in the end. Embiid barely missed all night as he shot 17 of 23 from the field, while Seth Curry had a quiet game of just five points on two of seven shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record. The 76ers are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the Clippers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Philadelphia and the Clippers are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The Clippers are going to be shorthanded once again as they are again without Nicolas Batum and Paul George while Marcus Morris is listed as questionable. The 76ers are still missing Matisse Thybulle, Danny Green and Shake Milton, while Seth Curry is listed as questionable. The Clippers haven’t been able to build any momentum over their past nine games and they will be kicking themselves after coming up just short in overtime on Wednesday. The 76ers have been one of the hottest teams in the league and they just blew past the Magic behind a monster night from Embiid. The Clippers are only 2-9 ATS in the las t11 meetings overall and I think that trend continues as the 76ers stay hot with another win and cover at home.
