The Chicago Bulls play host to the Washington Wizards at the United Center on Friday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their past 12 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short to the struggling Rockets in a 114-111 home loss on Wednesday. Bradley Beal led the team with 27 points and five assists, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 26 points while Kyle Kuzma chipped in with 24 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Wizards shot 44 percent from the field and 10 of 39 from the 3-point line as they clawed their way back from an early 12-point deficit to tie the scores with 3:01 left on the clock, only to see the Rockets’ Kevin Porter Jr. steal the game with a clutch 3-pointer with just 0.9 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league and they will be looking to build on their current eight-game win streak after sneaking past the Magic in a 102-98 home win on Monday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 29 points on 11 of 24 shooting, Zach LaVine added 27 points while Coby White chipped in with 17 points on seven of 11 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Bulls shot 43 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they held the Magic to just 19 points in the second quarter to take the lead at halftime, before using a pivotal 9-2 run late in the fourth quarter to escape with the narrow win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 road games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Bulls are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games playing on three or more days rest.
Head to head, the over is 12-5-1 in the last 18 meetings in Chicago and the Wizards are 5-12 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall.
The Wizards are still without Rui Hachimura, Davis Bertans I listed as doubtful while Montrezl Harrell is listed as questionable. The Bulls are just about at full strength except for Javonte Green and Alex Caruso who are both still out. It’s the classic tale of two teams headed in opposite directions as the Wizards are in a slump and fresh off a bad loss to the Rockets, while the Bulls have barely missed a step in their last eight games. The Wizards are only 5-12 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Bulls stay hot with a ninth straight win.
