The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the Indiana Pacers at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Sunday night.
The Indiana Pacers have really been struggling lately as they’ve lost six of their past eight games overall and they will be hoping to stop a three-game skid after falling just short to the Bulls in a 108-106 home loss on Friday. Caris LeVert led the team in scoring with 27 points, six rebounds and six assists, Domantas Sabonis added 24 points with 14 rebounds and six assists while Justin Holiday chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Pacers shot just 41 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the 3-point line as they used a 9-0 run to turn a four-point deficit into a five-point lead late in the fourth quarter, only to get stung at the buzzer as the Bulls’ DeMar DeRozan drained the game-winning 3-pointer to snatch the game from them.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past five games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after falling short to the Hawks in a 121-118 home loss on Friday. Kevin Love led the team with 35 points, 11 rebounds and four assists off the bench, Jarrett Allen added 21 points with eight rebounds and three blocks while Evan Mobley chipped in with 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot a healthy 57 percent from the field and eight of 25 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to take a 15-point lead into halftime, before seeing all their hard work go down the drain in the third quarter where they allowed 40 points which had them trailing the rest of the way.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on one days’ rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Cavaliers are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Pacers are 0-3-2 ATS in the last five meetings in Cleveland and the Pacers are 23-10-3 ATS in the last 36 meetings overall.
The Pacers are missing a list of players including Jeremy Lamb, Malcolm Brogdon and Chris Duarte, while the Cavaliers will again be without Darius Garland and Ricky Rubio while Dylan Windler is listed as questionable with left knee soreness. Both teams are coming into this meeting lacking momentum, but there’s still more to like about the Cavaliers who are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games and 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games overall. The Pacers have been a mess ever since they announced the rebuild and they’re just missing too much talent due to league health and safety protocols. The Pacers are 0-3-2 ATS in the last five meetings in Cleveland and I think that continues here as the Cavaliers get the job done in this spot.
