The Dallas Mavericks and the Sacramento Kings collide once again at the Golden 1 Center on Friday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a rut as they’ve lost five of their past seven games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short to the Kings in a 95-94 road loss on Wednesday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 25 points and six assists on 11 of 19 shooting, Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points with seven rebounds and three assists while Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 46 percent from the field and nine of 24 from the 3-point line as they went ice-cold in the second quarter where they scored just 13 points to trail by as many as 13 points, before coming up painfully short in the second half as the Kings’ Chimezie Metu drained the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in a slump as they’ve lost seven of their past 11 games overall, but they will be looking to build on their current two-game win streak after sneaking past the Mavericks on Wednesday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 16 points on seven of 12 shooting, Harrison Barnes, and Davion Mitchell each scored 14 points while Tyrese Haliburton chipped in with 12 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Kings shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 26 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in full control after outscoring the Mavericks by 35-13 in the second quarter to overcome an early 10-point deficit, before escaping with the thrilling win thanks to a clutch game-winner from Metu in the final second of the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days’ rest. The Kings are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games playing on one days’ rest.
Head to head, the under is 6-0 in the last six meetings overall, the Mavericks are 0-4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Sacramento and the Mavericks are 7-22-1 ATS in the last 30 meetings overall.
The Mavericks have been hit hard due to the league’s health and safety protocols as Willie Cauley-Stein, Brandon Knight and Reggie Bullock are all set to sit out once again while the Kings are just about at full strength. The Mavericks will be kicking themselves after getting their hearts broken by the Kings at the buzzer on Wednesday, but with so many players missing, I don’t see anything but a similar result here. The Mavericks are only 7-22-1 ATS in the last 30 meetings overall and I think that trend continues as the Kings get the win in this spot.
