The Philadelphia 76ers pay a visit to the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been a team on the rise as they’ve won three of their past four games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Raptors in a 114-109 road win on Tuesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 36 points, 11 rebounds and four assists on 11 of 16 shooting, Tobias Harris tallied a triple-double of 19 points with 12 rebounds and 10 assists while Georges Niang chipped in with 19 points on seven of 10 shooting off the bench. As a team, the 76ers shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 30 from the 3-point line as they outpaced the Raptors to lead by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter, before closing the game on a 8-2 run in the final 1:20 to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their past seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the Clippers in a 124-108 road win on Monday. James Harden led the team with 39 points, eight rebounds and 15 assists, Nicolas Claxton and Patty Mills each scored 18 points while Blake Griffin chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Nets shot a healthy 56 percent from the field and 13 of 34 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates and poured in 71 points in the first half, before making a final push in the third quarter to lead by as many as 22 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Nets are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games, 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the 76ers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The 76ers could be shorthanded once again as Shake Milton is listed as questionable, while the Nets will be without Kyrie Irving once again, but Kevin Durant could be back in the lineup after clearing the league’s health and safety protocols. The Nets have already beaten the 76ers twice this season by single digits and I’m expecting another close contest. Embiid will likely have a massive game, but I don’t think it will be enough to get the win here.
