The New York Knicks pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in decent shape lately as they’ve won four of their past six games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Timberwolves in a 96-88 road win last night. Mitchell Robinson led the team in scoring with 14 points and 18 rebounds on seven of eight shooting, Evan Fournier and Julius Randle each scored 13 points while Kemba Walker chipped in with just 10 points. As a team, the Knicks shot just 41 percent from the field and 16 of 40 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start to take the lead into halftime, before going on a pivotal 15-5 run in the third quarter to push the lead out to 11 points. The Knicks did a great job of holding the Timberwolves to just seven of 38 from the 3-point line, but their shooting left a lot to be desired as Walker shot just three of 11 from the field while Randle shot just five of 20 from the field.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been ice-cold lately as they’ve lost 27 of their first 32 games of the season and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game slide after getting dismantled by the Spurs in a 144-109 road loss on Sunday. Hamidou Diallo led the team in scoring with 28 points on 13 of 19 shooting, Saddiq Bey added 23 points, Luka Garza scored 20 points while Frank Jackson chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Pistons shot just 38 percent from the field and eight of 32 from the 3-point line, but their defense was poor right from the start and they quickly found themselves trailing big after allowing 78 points in the first half and another 41 points in the third quarter. Desividas Sirvydis finished with just three points on one of eight shooting while Jamorko Pickett finished scoreless on zero of seven shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games playing on zero days’ rest and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a losing home record. The Pistons are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games playing on two days’ rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Detroit, the Knicks are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Detroit and the Knicks are 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
Both teams are missing players due to the league’s health and safety protocols, but the Knicks are clearly the team in better form as they’ve picked up four wins in their last six games, compared to the slumping Pistons who are stuck on just five wins for the season so far. The Knicks are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games playing on zero days’ rest and they shouldn’t have too much trouble against the shorthanded Pistons in this spot.
