The Los Angeles Clippers invade the TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in a terrible slump as they’ve lost five of their past six games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the Nets in a 124-108 home loss on Monday. Marcus Morris led the team in scoring with 24 points and six assists, Eric Bledsoe and Keon Johnson each scored 15 points while Like Kennard chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 38 percent from the field and 14 of 37 from the 3-point line, but they were put on the back foot right from the start after the Nets exploded for 71 points in the first half. Brandon Boston Jr. finished with just nine points on three of 11 shooting off the bench while Amir Coffey scored just eight points on two of 10 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in a real slump lately as they’ve lost seven of their past 10 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Timberwolves in a disappointed 108-103 road loss on Monday. Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring with 26 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Payton Pritchard added 24 points with eight rebounds and six assists while Al Horford chipped in with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Celtics shot just 37 percent from the field and 16 of 47 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after leading by 12 points in the first half, but they couldn’t keep up the pace and eventually went down in the fourth quarter where the Timberwolves poured in 34 points to snatch the game late.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a loss of more than 10 points and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days’ rest. The Celtics are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a loss.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall and the Clippers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Clippers have really been struggling to stay competitive lately and they will be shorthanded once again as Paul George, Isaiah Hartenstein, Marcus Morris, Nicolas Batum and Reggie Jackson are all out. The Celtics are without Jayson Tatum, Josh Richardson, Justin Jackson and Enes Freedom. Neither team is coming into this game with any momentum, but there is certainly more to like about the Celtics in this spot as they still have Brown who can carry the offense. The Clippers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Celtics get the win at home.
