The Miami Heat play host to the Washington Wizards at the FTX Arena on Tuesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in terrible shape lately as they’ve lost eight of their past 11 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the 76ers in a 117-96 home loss on Sunday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team in scoring with 17 points and six assists, Montrezl Harrell added 15 points off the bench while Kyle Kuzma chipped in with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Wizards shot just 38 percent from the field and eight of 33 from the 3-point line as they poured in 31 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before getting blown out in the second and third quarters by a combined 67-41 as they had no answer for the 76ers’ duo of Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris who barely missed all night.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in fine form as they’ve won seven of their past nine games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after taking down the Magic in a 93-83 home win on Sunday. Jimmy Butler led the team with 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Caleb Martin added 17 points off the bench while Omer Yurtseven chipped in with 16 points and 15 rebounds. As a team, the Heat shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their defense as they held the Magic to just 15 points in the second quarter to take the lead into halftime, before pouring in 30 points in the third quarter to push the margin out to 18 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 road games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points and 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings in Miami and the Wizards are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Miami.
The Wizards will be depleted once again as Bradley Beal is listed as questionable, while Thomas Bryant, Rui Hachimura and Aaron Holiday are all listed as out. The Heat have their own concerns as DeWayne Dedmon and Kyle Lowry are both listed as out while PJ Tucker is questionable for this one. The Wizards came to life with back to back wins over the Jazz and the Knicks before getting stomped by the 76ers, so they’re not without a chance here, but the Heat are coming into this game with plenty of momentum and I think they can get the job done in this spot behind another big game from Butler.
