The Orlando Magic play host to the New Orleans Pelicans at the Amway Center on Thursday night.

The New Orleans Pelicans have been a team on the rise lately as they’ve won four of their past five games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Trail Blazers in a 111-97 home win on Tuesday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 28 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 27 points on 10 of 16 shooting off the bench while Josh Hart chipped in with 20 points and five assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 52 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Trail Blazers for three tight quarters, before pulling away in the fourth quarter where they used a pivotal 10-2 run to win comfortably in the end.

Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have lost 14 of their past 17 games, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after last night’s 104-98 road win over the Hawks. Franz Wagner led the team with 25 points on 10 of 24 shooting, Gary Harris added 17 points while Chuma Okeke chipped in with 12 points and six steals. As a team, the Magic shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 37 from the 3-point line, but this win was more about their defense as they held the Hawks to just 17 points in the second quarter to build a 20-point lead which proved to be just enough as the Hawks rallied with 37 points in the fourth quarter.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 road games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points. The Magic are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days’ rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.

Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall and the Pelicans are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.

The Magic have found a bit of form with a couple of wins on the trot after beating the Hawks last night, but they’re up against the Pelicans who are looking like a team on the rise. The Pelicans are only 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall, but with the shorthanded Magic playing this one on zero days’ rest, I’m sticking with the Pelicans to continue their rise with another win and cover in this spot.
