The Detroit Pistons take a trip to the FTX Arena to take on the Miami Heat on Thursday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in dreadful form as they’ve lost 15 of their past 16 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Knicks in a 105-91 road loss on Tuesday. Saben Lee led the team in scoring with 16 points off the bench, Saddiq Bey and Cory Joseph each scored 15 points while Trey Lyles chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot just 36 percent from the field and eight of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled on offense right from the start, scoring just 17 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 11 points at halftime and things only got worse in the fourth quarter where the Knicks ran away with it. Cade Cunningham had a rough shooting night as he finished with just seven points on two of 13 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their past seven games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Pacers in a 125-96 home win on Tuesday. Duncan Robinson led the team with 26 points on 10 of 16 shooting, Tyler Herro added 26 points and five assists in just 21 minutes off the bench while Max Struss chipped in with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Heat shot 49 percent from the field and a sizzling 22 of 49 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start and poured in 68 points in the first half to build a 33-point lead which allowed them to rest their players early.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning record. The Heat are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Miami, the Pistons are 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Miami and the Pistons are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Pistons will once again be shorthanded as they will be without Cade Cunningham while Frank Jackson is listed as questionable, and the Heat have their own concerns as they are once again without PJ Tucker and Jimmy Butler. The line is a little hefty, but even with some key players missing, I think the Heat will be too good for the Pistons in this spot.
