The Atlanta Hawks invade the Wells Fargo Center to do battle with the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost six of their past eight games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling just short to the slumping Magic in a 104-98 home loss last night. Cameron Reddish led the team with 34 points on 11 of 23 shooting while John Collins scored 28 points with 12 rebounds and two blocks, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Hawks shot 40 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, scoring just 37 points in the first half to trail by as many as 20 points, before pouring in 37 points in the fourth quarter to make it interesting late.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past six games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after stopping a three-game skid with a 108-103 road win over the Celtics on Monday. Joel Embiid led the team with 41 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four blocks, Seth Curry added 26 points with seven assists while Tobias Harris chipped in with 25 points on seven of 13 shooting. As a team, the 76ers shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after trailing by seven points late in the fourth quarter, before closing the final 3:40 on an 18-6 run to escape with the much-needed victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The 76ers are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Philadelphia and the under is 6-0 in the last six meetings overall.
The Hawks are missing a host of players including Lou Williams, Clint Capela and Danilo Gallinari while the 76ers will be missing Andre Drummond, Danny Green and Shake Milton. The Hawks are at a point where they will take any win they can get as they just haven’t been able to get going at all this season. The 76ers are coming into this meeting as the team in better form and they’ve already beaten the Hawks twice this season. This should be a close one, but I’m sticking with the more consistent 76ers to get the job done here behind a big game from Curry.
