The San Antonio Spurs invade the Golden 1 Center to do battle with the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.
The San Antonio Spurs have been in decent shape lately as they’ve won seven of their past 11 games and they will be hoping to stay hot after taking down the red-hot Jazz in a 128-126 road win on Friday. Keldon Johnson led the team with 24 points on 10 of 13 shooting, Derrick White added 22 points, Lonnie Walker scored 19 points off the bench while Dejounte Murray tallied a triple-double of 16 points with 11 rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled in the first half and trailed by as many as 17 points, before exploding for 69 points in the second half to escape with the impressive comeback win.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their past five games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Grizzlies in a 124-105 home loss on Friday. Tyrese Haliburton led the team with 21 points and 10 assists on nine of 16 shooting, Harrison Barnes added 20 points while Chimezie Metu chipped in with 18 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Kings shot just 40 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to an early 15-point lead, before getting completely blown out in the second half where they allowed 66 points. The Kings committed a total of 18 turnovers and they allowed 60 points in the paint.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Kings are 0-5 ATS in their last five Sunday games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Sacramento and the Spurs are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Kings will once again be without De’Aaron Fox, Alex Len and Davion Mitchell, while Richaun Holmes is listed as questionable, while the Spurs are almost at full strength as they’re only missing Zach Collins. These two squads have already met once this season and it was the Spurs who stormed their way to a 136-117 win back on Nov 10. The Spurs are clearly the team in better form in this matchup and they are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall, so I’m taking the Spurs to get the job done in this spot.
