The Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls duke it out at the United Center on Sunday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their past nine games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after having their three-game win streak halted by the Timberwolves in a 110-92 road loss on Friday. Isaiah Thomas led the team in scoring with 19 points on five of 12 shooting off the bench, LeBron James added 18 points with 10 rebounds and five assists while Russell Westbrook chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Lakers shot 38 percent from the field and 12 of 43 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, scoring just 16 points in the first quarter to trail by nine points at halftime, before getting blown out in the third quarter where the deficit grew to 26 points. Anthony Davis had a rough night as he scored just nine points before leaving the game with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their past eight games, but they will be eager to just get back on the court after having their last two games postponed due to league health and safety protocols. The Bulls haven’t been on the court since their 118-92 road loss to the Heat last Saturday. DeMar DeRozan could be back in action after clearing the league’s health and safety protocols, but the bad news is that Zach LaVine isn’t expected to return until after Christmas.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight Sunday games and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record. The Bulls are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Lakers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Chicago.
The Lakers are coming into this game severely shorthanded as they will be without Trevor Ariza, Malik Monk, Austin Reaves and Anthony Davis, while the Bulls are coming into this one without Zach LaVine while Derrick Jones Jr. is currently listed as questionable. With Davis out of the lineup, a lot will depend on the production of James who can certainly get the job done, but with the line so short, I’m more interested in the Bulls to get back on track with a much-needed win at home.
