The Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers duke it out at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in terrible form as they’ve won just four games so far this season and they are now riding a 12-game losing streak after getting thrashed by the Nets in a 116-104 home loss on Sunday. Cade Cunningham led the team with 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Frank Jackson drained six 3-pointers to finish with 25 points off the bench while Saben Lee chipped in with 17 points and six assists. As a team, the Pistons shot just 42 percent from the field and 14 of 37 from the 3-point line as they poured in 34 points in the third quarter to lead the highly-touted Nets by as many as seven points, before getting ambushed in the fourth quarter where the Nets outscored them by 30-13. Isaiah Stewart had a quiet night of just nine points on three of nine shooting while Saddiq Bey scored just four points on two of nine shooting.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in decent shape as they have won three of their past five games, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Bucks in a 114-99 road loss last night. Domantas Sabonis led the team with 16 points ,14 rebounds and five assists, Caris LeVert added 16 points with four assists while Myles Turner chipped in with 13 points, five rebounds and five blocks. As a team, the Pacers shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 38 from the 3-point line as they scored just 20 points in the second quarter to fall behind at halftime, before getting completely blown out in a disastrous fourth quarter by 27-12. All five starters finished in double figures in scoring, but no one could get going in the fourth quarter and they got next to nothing from their bench as no reserve player scored more than nine points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four home games, 8-1 ATS in their last nine games playing on zero days’ rest and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Indiana, the Pistons are 3-9-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Indiana and the Pistons are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Pistons will once again be without their leading scorer in Jerami Grant and Killian Hayes is currently listed as questionable for this one which isn’t great news for a Pistons team that have barely won all season. The Pacers were building some momentum with three wins on the trot before losing to the Warriors and the Bucks, so I expect them to get back in the win column against lesser competition like the Pistons. The Pistons are only 3-9-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Indiana and I expect that trend to continue as the Pacers get the much-needed win at home in this spot.
