The Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers collide at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a bit of a slump as they’ve lost five of their past eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back after having their two-game win streak halted by the Cavaliers in a 105-94 road loss on Monday. PJ Tucker led the team with 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists, Kyle Lowry added 22 points with five assists while Tyler Herro chipped in with 12 points off the bench. As a team, the Heat shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 40 from the 3-point line as they scored just 19 points in the second quarter to take an 11-point deficit at halftime and things only got worse in the fourth quarter where the Cavaliers went on a 22-11 run to push the lead out to 16 points.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won four of their past six games and they will be eager to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Grizzlies in a 126-91 road loss on Monday. Tyrese Maxey led the team with 23 points and seven assists on nine of 17 shooting, Charles Bassey added 13 points with 10 rebounds and four blocks off the bench while Tobias Harris and Shake Milton each scored 12 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 44 percent from the field and a miserly four of 22 from the 3-point line as they did their best to stay within 12 points at halftime, before getting completely blown off the floor in the second half where they managed just 35 points as their offense struggled mightily without Joel Embiid and Seth Curry who were both out with injuries.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss of more than 10 points. The 76ers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss of more than 10 points and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Heat are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
Jimmy Butler remains out while Tyler Herro is listed as questionable, so the Heat could be severely depleted in this one and the same can be said about the 76ers who have Joel Embiid and Seth Curry listed as questionable for this one. Both teams have been hit hard by injuries, but thanks to Embiid, the 76ers are coming into this one as the team in better form. It’s always hard to pick between two teams missing key players, but I think we’re going to see at least Curry or Embiid return which will be enough of a boost for the 76ers to get the win at home in this spot.
