The Toronto Raptors invade the Barclays Center to do battle with the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their past five games and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Kings in a 124-101 home win last night. Chris Boucher led the team in scoring with 17 points on seven of 10 shooting, Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes each scored 16 points while Fred VanVleet chipped in with 12 points and five assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 54 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start, pouring in 70 points in the first half to build a 31-point lead, to allow them to cruise in the second half. It was a real balanced scoring effort as a total of nine players finished in double figures in scoring.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in great shape as they’ve won nine of their past 12 games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the Pistons in a 116-104 road win on Sunday. Kevin Durant led the team with a season-high 51 points, seven rebounds and nine assists on 16 of 31 shooting, Patty Mills added 18 points with five assists while LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Nets shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the 3-point line as they poured in 60 points in the first half to take the early lead, but they really had to grind in this one as they just couldn’t shake off the Pistons until the fourth quarter where they used a pivotal 19-1 run to pull away and win comfortably in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days’ rest. The Nets are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games and 19-8 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the Raptors are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Brooklyn.
The Raptors have been building nicely over the last five games and they will take plenty of confidence from last night’s blowout win over the Kings. The Nets are coming into this game with plenty of momentum themselves, especially Durant who just exploded for 51 points against the Pistons on Sunday. It’s hard to back against the Nets when they’re in this kind of form, but with the line so hefty, I’d rather take the Raptors who are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Brooklyn.
