The Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics duke it out at the TD Garden on Monday night.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 12 of their past 14 games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the struggling Knicks in a 112-97 road win last night. Khris Middleton led the team with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Giannis Antetokounmpo racked up a triple-double of 20 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists, Bobby Portis scored 19 points with 10 rebounds while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 13 points and five assists. As a team, the Bucks shot 47 percent from the field and 14 of 41 from the 3-point line, but this win was more about their defense as they held the Knicks to just 16 points in the first quarter to take an early double-digit lead, before holding them to just 18 points in the fourth quarter to make it a blowout.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in a rut as they’ve lost six of their past nine games and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after getting routed by the Suns in a 111-90 road loss on Friday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 24 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Dennis Schroder added 15 points while Robert Williams chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Celtics shot just 37 percent from the field and a miserly four of 26 from the 3-point line as they fell behind big after getting outscored by 32-15 in the second quarter and things only got worse in the fourth quarter where the Suns ran away with it. Marcus Smart had a night to forget as he scored just four points on one of 13 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bucks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days’ rest and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Celtics are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 home games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team above .600 and 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on two days’ rest.
Head to head, the over is 6-0 in the last six meetings overall, the Bucks are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the Bucks are 3-9 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Boston.
The Bucks are coming into this game with plenty of momentum and they are just about at full strength except for Wesley Matthews who is out due to health and safety protocols and Donte DiVincenzo who is set to make his season debut on Wednesday. The Celtics will be without Josh Richardson once again and their confidence took another hit as they are now riding a three-game losing streak following their big loss to the Suns. The Bucks are only 3-9 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Boston, but the Bucks are clearly the team in better form and I like them as underdogs in this spot.
