The Atlanta Hawks play host to the Houston Rockets at the State Farm Arena on Monday night.
The Houston Rockets came to life with seven wins on the trot, but they are now looking to snap a two-game skid after falling short to the Grizzlies in a 113-106 road loss on Saturday. Christian Wood led the team with 22 points ,11 rebounds and three assists, Aaron Brooks added 18 points with six assists off the bench while Alperen Sengun chipped in with 15 points and six assists. As a team, the Rockets shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start and allowed 40 points in a nightmare of a first quarter and things only got worse in the second quarter where they scored just 18 points to fall behind by as many as 21 points at one stage.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a bit of a rut lately as they’ve lost four of their past six games and they will be hoping to bounce back here after falling short to the Nets in a 113-105 home loss on Friday. Trae Young led the team with 31 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists, John Collins added 20 points, Kevin Huerter scored 19 points while Clint Capela chipped in with 14 points with 16 rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Hawks shot just 39 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a solid start and led for most of the game, until the fourth quarter where they scored a measly 14 points to allow the Nets to run them down in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 Monday games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Hawks are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 games against a team below .400.
The Rockets were soaring during a seven-game win streak, but injuries have stalled their progress and they will once again be without Jalen Green, Danuel House Jr. and Kevin Porter Jr. The Hawks are just about at full strength, but they have playing well below their best lately, so they will be eager to snap out of their funk with a much-needed win at home. The Hawks are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games but I think that streak ends here as the Hawks take advantage of the shorthanded Rockets.
