The Dallas Mavericks invade the Paycom Center to do battle with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a slump as they’ve lost nine of their last 12 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Pacers in a 106-93 road loss on Friday. Luka Doncic led the team with 27 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, Kristaps Porzingis added 22 points on nine of 17 shooting while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 46 percent from the field and a miserly four of 29 from the 3-point line as they hung in the contest right until the fourth quarter where they managed just 13 points to allow the Pacers to run away with it. Hardaway Jr. shot just one of nine from the 3-point line while Doncic shot just one of eight from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a real slump as they’ve lost nine of their past 11 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting blown out by the Lakers in a 116-95 loss on Friday. Tre Mann led the team in scoring with 19 points, Josh Giddey added 12 points with seven rebounds and seven assists while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luguentz Dort each scored 11 points. As a team, the Thunder shot just 39 percent from the field and 10 of 44 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start and fell behind by 19 points at halftime and things only got worse in the third quarter where they trailed by as many as 29 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 games against a team with a losing record, 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Thunder are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Oklahoma City and the Mavericks are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall.
The Mavericks have really been in a funk lately and they will be without their best player in Doncic in this one as he has already been ruled out with an ankle sprain. The Thunder just got blown out by the Lakers in their last outing, but they beat the Pistons and the Raptors before that loss, so they certainly have a chance here. I can see why the Mavericks are road favorites here, but without Doncic in the lineup, I’d rather go with the Thunder at home in this spot.
