The Detroit Pistons play host to the Brooklyn Nets at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent shape as they’ve won eight of their past 11 games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Hawks in a 113-105 road win on Friday. Kevin Durant led the team with 31 points and six assists on 12 of 22 shooting, James Harden added 20 points with 11 assists while LaMarcus Aldridge and Bruce Brown each scored 15 points. As a team, the Nets shot 49 percent from the field and just six of 23 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sloppy start and trailed for most of the game until the fourth quarter where they won behind their defense as they held the Hawks to just 14 points.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in terrible form as they are currently riding an 11-game losing streak after getting thrashed by the Pelicans in a 109-93 road loss on Friday. Trey Lyles led the team with 18 points on seven of eight shooting, Cade Cunningham added 16 points on five of 17 shooting while Jerami Grant and Saddiq Bey each scored 11 points. As a team, the Pistons shot just 38 percent from the field and 12 of 37 from the 3-point line as they poured in 32 points in the first quarter to take the lead into halftime, but their hard work went down the drain in the third quarter where they scored just 12 points to fall behind by as many as 27 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record, 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Pistons are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record, 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss of more than 10 points and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on one days’ rest.
Head to head, the Nets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Detroit and the Nets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
James Harden is being rested for this one, while Paul Millsap has been ruled out, so the Nets will be a little shorthanded here, but the Pistons are also missing their leading scorer in Jerami Grant who is out indefinitely. The Nets are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and I think they have more than enough firepower remaining to get the job done against a struggling Pistons team.
