The Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Clippers duke it out at the Staples Center on Saturday evening.
The Orlando Magic have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 10 of their past 11 games and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting routed by the Kings in a 142-130 road loss on Wednesday. Cole Anthony led the team with 33 points and eight assists on 12 of 14 shooting, Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. each scored 19 points while Terrence Ross chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Magic shot 49 percent from the field and 16 of 34 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Kings until the third quarter where the Kings used a pivotal 19-4 run to pull away with the game. A total of seven players finished in double figures in scoring but RJ Hampton had a night to forget as he scored just one points on zero of six shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been building nicely as they’ve won three of their past four games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the Celtics in a 114-111 home win on Wednesday. Brandon Boston Jr. led the team with 27 points on nine of 13 shooting off the bench, Marcus Morris added 20 points while Reggie Jackson chipped in with 17 points and seven assists. As a team, the Clippers shot 47 percent from the field and 14 of 32 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 39 points in the second quarter to take a 21-point lead which proved to be just enough as the Celtics clawed to within two points with 22.9 seconds left on the clock.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 0-5 ATS in their last five games playing on two days’ rest and 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record. The Clippers are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games playing on two days’ rest.
Head to head, the under is 18-6-2 in the last 26 meetings overall and the Magic are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Magic haven’t been able to build any momentum at all lately and their confidence took another hit after allowing the Kings to put 142 points on them on Wednesday. The Clippers are starting to turn things around with three wins in their last four outings and they may have found a hidden gem in Brandon Boston Jr. who poured in 27 points in his last outing. Paul George is currently listed as day to day, so the Clippers could be shorthanded here, but the Magic are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and I think that trend continues here.
