The Charlotte Hornets play host to the Sacramento Kings at the Spectrum Center on Friday night.
The Sacramento Kings have been building nicely lately as they’ve won five of their past seven games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Magic in a 142-130 home win on Wednesday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 33 points on 12 of 18 shooting, Davion Mitchell and Tyrese Haliburton each scored 18 points while Harrison Barnes and Terence Davis scored 16 points apiece. As a team, the Kings shot 49 percent from the field and 16 of 34 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 70 points in the first half to take a narrow lead into halftime, before outscoring the Magic by 34-25 in the third quarter to push the lead out to 18 points. A total of seven players finished in double figures in scoring, but Buddy Hield had himself a night to forget as he scored just five points on two of 13 shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost five of their past six games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling just short to the 76ers in a 110-106 home loss on Wednesday. Gordon Hayward led the team with 31 points and seven assists on 10 of 18 shooting, Kelly Oubre Jr. added 22 points with 10 rebounds and three assists while Miles Bridges chipped in with 20 points and five assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they got off to a solid start and led for most of the first half, before falling just short in the second half as they committed a total of 18 turnovers, and they just had no way of stopping the 76ers Joel Embiid who shot 15 of 19 from the free throw line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 15-6 ATS in their last 21 road games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a win of more than 10 points and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Hornets are 7-0 ATS in their last seven home games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Kings are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Kings have come to life with thee wins on the trot and they will be coming into this game with plenty of confidence after pouring in 142 points in a win over the Magic on Wednesday. The Hornets have struggled lately as they’ve been a little banged up, but you just know that they’ll turn things around once they get healthy again and I think that’s what we’ll see here. Give me the Hornets to get the much-needed win in a close one.
