The New York Knicks invade the Scotiabank Arena to take on the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past five games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Pacers in a 122-102 road loss on Wednesday. RJ Barrett led the team with 19 points, Julius Randle added 18 points with eight rebounds while Alec Burks chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Knicks shot just 41 percent from the field and nine of 30 from the 3-point line as they struggled to match the Pacers from the start and quickly found themselves trailing by 13 points at halftime and as many as 27 points after managing just 19 points in the third quarter. Derrick Rose scored just eight points and Evan Fournier scored just seven points on two of six shooting.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in a slump lately as they’ve lost five of their past eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back after having their two-game win streak snapped by the Thunder in a 110-109 home loss on Wednesday. Gary Trent Jr. led the team with 24 points on 10 of 17 shooting, Pascal Siakam added 23 points with 11 rebounds and five assists while Fred VanVleet chipped in with 19 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 45 percent from the field and 15 of 41 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 13-point lead, before rallying back from a 14-point deficit only to come up just short in the final seconds. All five starters finished in double figures in scoring, but the bench combined for just 14 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days’ rest. The Raptors are 3-14-1 ATS in their last 18 home games, 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings in Toronto and the Knicks are 0-8 ATS in the last eight meetings in Toronto.
The Knicks are still struggling for consistency and their confidence took another hit after getting blown out by the Pacers on Wednesday. The Raptors were picking up steam with a couple of wins on the trot before coming up painfully short to the lowly Thunder in their last outing, so they will be eager to make up for it in this one. The Knicks are 0-8 ATS in the last eight meetings in Toronto, so I’m sticking with the Raptors to get the win in this one.
