The Dallas Mavericks pay a visit to the Indiana Pacers at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in rough shape as they’ve lost eight of their past 11 games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 104-96 road win over the Grizzlies on Wednesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Kristaps Porzingis added 19 points while Reggie Bullock chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 48 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled in the first half and fell behind by as many as 12 points, but they turned the game in the third quarter and took over in the fourth where they held the Grizzlies to just 21 points to escape with the win.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have lost five of their past eight games, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the Knicks in a 122-102 home win on Wednesday. Chris Duarte led the team in scoring with 23 points and six assists on nine of 11 shooting, Myles Turner added 22 points, Domantas Sabonis scored 21 points with 11 rebounds and five assists while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 16 points and five assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 53 percent from the field and 10 of 27 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 36 points in the first quarter to build an early double-digit lead, before holding the Knicks to just 19 points in the third quarter to push the margin out to 27 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 17-36 ATS in their last 53 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Pacers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on one days’ rest.
It’s hard to know what to think of the Mavericks as they were really struggling before beating the Grizzlies in their last outing and the same could be said about the Pacers who are looking towards a rebuild. Doncic has been great for the Mavericks but they’re starting to get more production from Porzingis who has been so inconsistent this season. This should be a close one and I’m tempted to take the Mavericks who are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, but I think the Pacers can get the win at home in this spot.
