The New York Knicks invade the Gainbridge Fieldhouse to battle the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have really been struggling for consistency lately, but they will be eager to stay hot after arresting a three-game skid with a 121-109 road win over the Spurs last night. RJ Barrett drained seven 3-pointers to lead the team with 32 points on 11 of 20 shooting, Alec Burks added 18 points and five assists off the bench while Julius Randle tallied 15 points with seven rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 47 percent from the field and 18 of 38 from the 3-point line as they poured in 34 points in the second quarter to take the lead at halftime, before pouring in another 33 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 16 points. The Knicks’ depth was really tested for a period there, but it’s looking as healthy as ever with Obi Toppin, Mitchell Robinson and Derrick Rose all played quality minutes last night.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a funk as they’ve lost five of their past seven games, but they will be eager to build some momentum after arresting a four-game slide with a 116-110 home win over the Wizards on Monday. Domantas Sabonis led the team with 30 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals, Caris LeVert added 19 points while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 17 points, six rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 52 percent from the field and nine of 23 from the 3-point line as they held the Wizards to just 18 points in the first quarter to take the early lead which grew to 17 points late in the third quarter before things tightened up late. Seven players finished in double figures in scoring and the Pacers shot 21 of 22 from the free throw line as a team.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 19-9 ATS in their last 28 road games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games playing on zero days’ rest. The Pacers are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four home games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall and the Knicks are 6-13 ATS In the last 19 meetings in Indiana.
The Knicks haven’t been able to build momentum yet this season, but with players like Rose, Robinson and Toppin returning to the lineup, you’d back them to turn things around sooner rather than later. The Pacers were in a real slump before earning a much-needed win over the struggling Wizards on Monday and who knows how they’re going to play with all the trade rumors going around. This is a tough one to pick, but I think the Knicks represent decent value as the underdogs in this spot.
