The Brooklyn Nets pay a visit to the American Airlines Center to do battle with the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent shape as they’ve won seven of their past 10 games, but they will be eager to bounce back in this one after falling just short to the Bulls in a 111-107 home loss on Saturday. Kevin Durant led the team with 28 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, LaMarcus Aldridge added 20 points on 10 of 17 shooting while James Harden tallied 14 points with seven rebounds and 14 assists. As a team, the Nets shot just 41 percent from the field and eight of 25 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and led by as many as 11 points midway through the third quarter, before going cold in the fourth quarter where the Bulls poured in 32 points to snatch the game from them late. Harden didn’t commit a turnover in this one, but he shot just five of 21 from the field while Bruce Brown scored just four points on two of 11 shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in terrible form as they’ve lost seven of their past nine games and they will be hoping to arrest a two-game skid after falling short to the Grizzlies in a 97-90 home loss on Saturday. Tim Hardaway Jr. led the team in scoring with 29 points off the bench, Jalen Brunson added 15 points with eight assists while Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in with 14 points, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Mavericks shot a miserly 33 percent from the field and 15 of 43 from the 3-point line as they scored just 37 points in the first half to take a 12-point deficit into halftime and things only got worse in the third quarter where they trailed by as many as 17 points. Reggie Bullock had a rough night after scoring just five points on two of nine shooting while Brunson shot just seven of 21 from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on two days’ rest and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Mavericks are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the Nets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
Kristaps Porzingis is set to return to the starting lineup in this one, but the Mavericks could still be without Luka Doncic and Tim Hardaway Jr. who are both listed as questionable for this one. The Nets haven’t been at their best lately, but they are clearly the team in better form in this meeting, they aren’t quite as banged up. This is a tricky one to pick, but the Mavericks are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and I think the Nets can escape with the win and cover with the line so short.
