The Philadelphia 76ers invade the Spectrum Center to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be aiming to build some momentum after sneaking past the Hawks in a thrilling 98-96 road win on Friday. Joel Embiid led the team with 28 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Seth Curry added 18 points with five assists while Georges Niang chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 46 percent from the field and nine of 22 from the 3-point line as they scored just 13 points in the second quarter to fall behind by as many as 11 points, before they rallied back in the fourth quarter where they held them to just six points in the final 11:03 to escape with the unlikely victory.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in fine form as they’ve won nine of their past 13 games and they will be eager to stay hot after snapping a three-game skid with a 130-127 road win over the Hawks last night. Miles Bridges led the team with 32 points on 11 of 15 shooting, Kelly Oubre Jr. added 28 points on 11 of 17 shooting while Gordon Hayward and Ish Smith each scored 18 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 53 percent from the field and 17 of 37 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 38 points in the second quarter to take an early 11-point lead, before going on a decisive 12-1 run late in the fourth quarter to escape with the narrow win. A total of six players finished in double figures in scoring and the Hornets committed just six turnovers as a team.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on two days’ rest. The Hornets are 0-5 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest, 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 5-0 ATS in their last five home games.
Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall, the 76ers are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the 76ers are 5-0-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Charlotte.
The 76ers will be sweating on the availability of Tobias Harris who is currently listed as questionable with an illness, while the Hornets could again be without LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier. The 76ers have been well below their best lately, but they will take plenty of confidence from their comeback win over the red-hot Hawks on Friday. The Hornets will be quietly confident themselves after sneaking past the Hawks last night as Bridges and Oubre Jr. really stepped up in the absence of Ball. The Hornets were impressive in the way they stepped up last night, but it’s going to be tough to replicate that on zero days’ rest. The 76ers are 5-0-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Charlotte and I think that trend continues here.
