The Utah Jazz and the Cleveland Cavaliers duke it out at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon.
The Utah Jazz have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their past nine games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after outlasting the Celtics in a 137-130 home win on Friday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 34 points and six assists on 12 of 22 shooting, Mike Conley added 29 points with seven assists, Rudy Gobert scored 18 points with 12 rebounds while Bojan Bogdanovic chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Jazz shot 55 percent from the field and a sizzling 27 of 51 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter to take an early 14-point lead, before going on a decisive 13-4 run in the fourth quarter to pull away and escape with the narrow win. Six players finished in double figures in scoring and Conley drained a perfect seven of seven from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers are coming into this game with plenty of momentum themselves as they will be looking to build on their current four-game win streak after routing the Wizards in a 116-101 road win on Friday. Darius Garland led the team with 32 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists, Jarrett Allen added 28 points with 13 rebounds and two blocks while Lauri Markkanen chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates and exploded for 65 points in the first half to take a 19-point lead into halftime, before making a final push in the third quarter to lead by as many as 36 points. Ricky Rubio finished with seven points on three of 11 shooting in a quiet night while Evan Mobley scored just six points on three of 12 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a losing home record. The Cavaliers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games as an underdog and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 8-1-1 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Jazz are 16-4-3 ATS in the last 23 meetings overall and the Jazz are 5-0-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers have been in great shape lately and they will take plenty of confidence from their big win over the Wizards, but they’re still a little banged up, so I just wish we were getting more points from the bookies. With the line so short, I think I’d rather go with the red-hot Jazz who are 5-0-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Cleveland. The Cavaliers are becoming heavily reliant on Allen and I don’t think he’ll be too effective against Gobert in this spot.
