The Memphis Grizzlies invade the American Airlines Center to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their past nine games and they will be eager to build on their current three-game win streak after dismantling the Thunder in a 152-79 home win on Thursday. Jaren Jackson Jr. poured in 27 points on nine of 11 shooting in just 20 minutes of action, DeAnthony Melton added 19 points off the bench, Santi Aldama scored 18 points while John Konchar chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot a sizzling 62 percent from the field and 19 of 36 from the 3-point line as they dominated this game right from the start and never let off to finish with the highest margin of victory in NBA history. A total of nine players finished in double figures and no starter played more than 21 minutes.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in rough shape lately as they’ve lost six of their past eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back after last night’s 107-91 home loss to the Pelicans. Luka Doncic led the team with 21 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, Jalen Brunson scored 16 points, Maxi Kleber added 13 points with nine rebounds while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 12 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line as they held the Pelicans to just 14 points in the first quarter to take the lead into halftime, but they couldn’t keep up the pace in the second half where the Pelicans exploded for 63 points to make it look easy in the end. Dorian Finney-Smith scored just eight points, Reggie Bullock scored just four points while Doncic shot just zero of six from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record. The Mavericks are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall.
The Grizzlies are coming into this game with plenty of momentum after beating the Thunder by 73 points in a ruthless display on Thursday. The Mavericks are going through their worst slump of the season and they just got blown out by the Pelicans after dismantling them just a couple nights prior. Brandon Clarke is listed as questionable for the Grizzlies, while the Mavericks will once again be without Kristaps Porzingis. The Mavericks are only 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games, so I’m leaning towards the Grizzlies and the points in a game they could win outright.
