The Denver Nuggets pay a visit to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their past eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after falling short against the Magic in a 108-103 road loss on Wednesday. Monte Morris led the team in scoring with 22 points on 10 of 15 shooting, Nikola Jokic racked up 18 points with 15 rebounds and seven assists while Aaron Gordon chipped in with 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to lead by as many as 16 points, but the turnovers crept into the second half where the Magic exploded for 61 points to pull away and snatch the game from them. Jokic put up some nice stats in this one, but he finished with five turnovers and shot zero of five from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been struggling for consistency lately as they’ve lost four of their last seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling just short to the Bulls in a 119-115 home loss on Thursday. Julius Randle led the team with 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists while Alec Burks, Evan Fournier and Derrick Rose each scored 16 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 51 percent from the field and nine of 26 from the 3-point line as they clawed their way back from an early 21-point deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter, only to come up painfully short as the Bulls went on a decisive 8-2 run with 53 seconds left on the clock to snatch the game from them. Immanuel Quickley shot just six of 17 from the field while Burks shot just three of 10 from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-7 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Knicks are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Nuggets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Nuggets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in New York.
The Nuggets haven’t been playing well lately and they might still be scratching their heads after blowing a 16-point lead against the slumping Magic on Wednesday. The Knicks haven’t been able to build any momentum at all and their confidence took another hit after rallying back against the Bulls, only to leave with nothing on Thursday. It’s tough to pick between these two struggling teams, but the Nuggets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in New York and I think we’re going to see them escape with the much-needed win here behind a big game from Jokic.
