The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Brooklyn Nets duke it out at the Barclays Center on Friday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their past nine games, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after falling just short to the Wizards in a 115-107 road loss on Wednesday. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 34 points and 10 rebounds on 11 of 25 shooting, Anthony Edwards added 25 points while Naz Reid chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 42 percent from the field and 11 of 37 from the 3-point line as they poured in 33 points in the second quarter to take the lead into halftime, but they allowed 38 points in the third quarter and went ice-cold on offense in the fourth quarter to allow the Wizards to snatch the game from them. D’Angelo Russell scored 10 points with nine assists but shot a miserly three of 18 from the field and one of 12 from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in fine form as they’ve won eight of their past 10 games and they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Knicks in a 112-110 home win on Tuesday. James Harden led the team with 34 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, Kevin Durant added 27 points with nine assists while Cam Thomas chipped in with 12 points off the bench. As a team, the Nets shot 48 percent from the field and eight of 28 from the 3-point line as they went to Harden early and often in first three quarters, before leaning heavily on Durant who got hot late in the fourth quarter. James Johnson was a quiet contributor until he had to make the game-winning free throws with 2.2 seconds left on the clock.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Brooklyn, the Timberwolves are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Brooklyn and the Timberwolves are 25-9 ATS in the last 34 meetings overall.
Anthony Edwards has been dealing with an illness, but he is listed as probable for this one, but Karl-Anthony Towns is currently listed as questionable after taking a scary fall on Wednesday. With the injury cloud hanging over the Timberwolves, I think I’ll go with the Nets who will be well-rested as they haven’t played since Tuesday.
