The Chicago Bulls pay a visit to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.
The Chicago Bulls have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their past five games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after blowing past the Hornets in a 133-119 home win on Monday. Nikola Vucevic drained six 3-pointers to lead the team with 30 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and two blocks, DeMar DeRozan added 28 points with six assists, Zach Lavine scored 25 points while Lonzo Ball chipped in with 16 points and eight assists. As a team, the Bulls shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field and 14 of 30 from the 3-point line as they took control of the game in the second quarter where they exploded for 39 points, before pouring in another 35 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 23 points.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last 10 games, but they will be looking to bounce back after falling painfully short to the Nets in a 112-110 road loss on Tuesday. Alec Burks has been fantastic in the starting lineup and he led the way once again with 25 points and five assists, Julius Randle added 24 points with nine rebounds and eight assists while Derrick Rose chipped in with 16 points and nine assists off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the 3-point line as they clawed their way back from a 16-point deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter before coming up just short as Evan Fournier missed the potential game-tying shot at the buzzer. Immanuel Quickley played 38 minutes off the bench while Alec Burks played 39 minutes, but Kemba Walker sat out due to a coach’s decision.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bulls are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on two days’ rest. The Knicks are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss.
Head to head, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Bulls are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in New York and the Bulls are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Bulls haven’t been at their best lately, but they are coming into this one fresh off their best offensive showing this season thanks to big games from Vucevic, DeRozan and LaVine. The Knicks haven’t been terrible, but they’ve struggled for consistency as they haven’t strung together back to back wins since the end of October and they could be shorthanded as RJ Barrett is questionable with an illness. The Knicks certainly look better with Burks in the starting lineup and they were close to taking down the Nets on Tuesday, but the Bulls will be well-rested as they haven’t played since Monday and I think they’ll escape with the win and cover in this spot.
