The Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics duke it out at the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in a real funk as they’ve lost eight of their past 11 games, but they will be eager to build some momentum after sneaking past the Magic in a 101-96 on Monday night. Seth Curry led the team in scoring with 24 points on 10 of 13 shooting, Tobias Harris added 17 points with nine rebounds while Joel Embiid chipped in with 16 points, 13 rebounds and five assists but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the 76ers shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 16-point lead in the third quarter, before regrouping in the fourth quarter where they held the Magic to just 18 points to escape with the win.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their past six games and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Raptors in a 109-97 road win on Sunday. Marcus Smart led the team with 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Josh Richardson added 18 points off the bench, Al Horford scored 17 points with 11 rebounds while Jaylen Brown chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Celtics shot just 41 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line as they kept the Raptors at bay until the fourth quarter where they were finally able to put them away. Jayson Tatum steered the offense with 10 assists, but he had a terrible shooting night as he finished with just eight points on two of 16 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Celtics are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games playing on two days’ rest and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
Head to head, the 76ers are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Boston and the 76ers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Celtics have been building momentum lately but they will be sweating on the availability of Jaylen Brown who is listed as questionable for this one. Meanwhile, the 76ers were really struggling without their big man Joel Embiid, but he’s back in the lineup and they’re fresh off a much-needed win over the Magic. The Celtics are still deserved favorites at home, but I really like the 76ers as underdogs in this spot if Brown is unable to suit up.
