The New York Knicks pay a visit to the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last 12 games and they will be hoping to build some momentum after taking down the red-hot Hawks in a 99-90 road win on Saturday. Alec Burks led the team in scoring with 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Evan Fournier added 20 points while RJ Barrett chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 43 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the 3-point line as they poured in 34 points in the third quarter to take a 14-point lead, before holding the Hawks to just 16 points in the fourth quarter to earn the much-needed victory. Obi Toppin provided a real spark off the bench as he scored 13 points in just 16 minutes, while Julius Randle had a night to forget as he scored just eight points on three of 14 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their past nine games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after having their four-game win streak halted by the Suns in a 113-107 home loss on Saturday. Kevin Durant led the team with 39 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals, LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Bembry each scored 18 points while James Harden tallied a triple-double of 12 points with 13 rebounds and 14 assists. As a team, the Nets shot 50 percent from the field but just seven of 23 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and quickly found themselves trailing by 15 points in the first quarter. The Nets looked like they were coming back into the contest after they cut the deficit to just seven points, but turnovers cost them again as the Suns made another run to push the margin to 22 points. Patty Mills scored just nine points, Harden shot just four of 15 from the field and the bench combined for just 11 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 0-7 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games playing on two days’ rest. The Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Head to head, the under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings overall, the Knicks are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Knicks are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Brooklyn.
Derrick Rose is considered doubtful while Nerlens Noel and RJ Barrett are both listed as questionable, while the Nets are obviously still without Kyrie Irving and Joe Harris. The Knicks were great in their road win over the Hawks on Saturday, but if Barrett sits out, I don’t think they’ll have enough offense to hang with the Nets, especially if Randle has another quiet game. The Nets will be disappointed with their loss to the Suns, but they were rolling before that game and I think Harden will bounce back in this one after committing seven turnovers in the last outing. I would take the Knicks with the points if they weren’t so banged up, but with the short line, I’ll stick with the Nets to bounce back at home.
