The Toronto Raptors play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games and they will be hoping to build some momentum after blowing past the Kings in a 128-101 home win on Sunday. Dillon Brooks led the team with 21 points on eight of 17 shooting, Desmond Bane added 18 points while Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in with 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates and finished with 76 points in the first half to take the double-digit lead, before making another push in the third quarter to lead by as many as 37 points. Brandon Clarke was a real spark plug off the bench as he scored 15 points on seven of eight shooting in just 16 minutes while De’Anthony Melton scored 14 points in 18 minutes.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in a real slump as they’ve lost nine of their past 12 games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Celtics in a 109-97 home loss on Sunday. Fred VanVleet led the team with 27 points on eight of 16 shooting, Scottie Barnes added 21 points while Pascal Siakam chipped in with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Raptors shot just 37 percent from the field and 13 of 42 from the 3-point line as they hung with the Celtics in a close contest, all the way until the fourth quarter where the Celtics went on a pivotal 14-4 run to pull away and steal the game late. Precious Achiuwa scored just six points on three of 11 shooting while Yuta Watanabe scored just three points on one of six shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games following a win of more than 10 points. The Raptors are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a double-digit loss at home and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 18-3 in the last 21 meetings in Toronto, the Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Toronto and the Grizzlies are 5-15-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings overall.
Gary Trent Jr. is questionable for the Raptors while Ziaire Williams is questionable for the Grizzlies. Usually, you would be able to confidently take the Raptors to take advantage of a shorthanded Grizzlies team at home, but they’ve been well below their best lately as they’ve lost nine of their last 12. I do think the Raptors turn their season around sooner or later, but I’d rather take the Grizzlies who can certainly pull off the upset if they come out firing again.
