The Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Orlando Magic at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.
The Orlando Magic have been in a real slump as they’ve lost nine of their past 10 games and they will be hoping to put an end to a six-game slide after getting routed by the Cavaliers in a 105-92 road loss on Saturday. Wendell Carter Jr. led the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds on eight of 13 shooting, Robin Lopez added 13 points on six of nine shooting, Franz Wagner scored 12 points with eight rebounds and four assists while Gary Harris chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Magic shot just 39 percent from the field and eight of 32 from the 3-point line as they hung around in a close contest until the third quarter where the Cavaliers went on a pivotal 11-3 run to put them behind by 13 points. Wagner shot just four of 13 from the field, Jalen Suggs shot just three of 10 while no bench player finished in double figures in scoring.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in a slump of their own as they’ve lost eight of their past 10 games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling painfully short to the Timberwolves in a 121-120 overtime home loss on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with 42 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks, Tobias Harris added 17 points with nine rebounds and four assists while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 15 points and nine assists. As a team, the 76ers shot just 41 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line as they blew a chance to win the game in regulation as Harris missed the go-ahead free throw with 18.5 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, before coming up short in double-overtime as Embiid had his final shot blocked at the buzzer.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 21-9 ATS in their last 30 road games against a team with a losing home record and 9-19 ATS in their last 28 games overall. The 76ers are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games against a team below .400 and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Philadelphia, the Magic are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Philadelphia and the Magic are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Magic have been plagued by injuries all season and they are now sweating on the availability of Mo Bamba and Terrence Ross who are both listed as questionable for this one. The 76ers really struggled to win without Embiid and they’re coming into this one fresh off a tough loss, but if there was ever a team to help you get back on track, it’s the shorthanded Magic who are riding a six-game losing streak. It’s hard to imagine the 76ers losing this one at home, but it’s just hard to back them with the line so hefty. I’ll lean towards the Magic and the points in a game I’d rather stay away from.
