The Denver Nuggets travel to the FTX Arena to do battle with the Miami Heat on Monday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been in a real slump as they are coming into this game hoping to arrest a six-game slide after getting thrashed by the Bucks in a 120-109 home loss on Friday. Aaron Gordon led the team in scoring with 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Will Barton added 17 points with nine rebounds and four assists, Frank Campazzo provided the spark off the bench with 16 points while Jeff Green and Monte Morris each scored 15 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot just 43 percent from the field and 17 of 47 from the 3-point line, but they struggled to get going and were always fighting an uphill battle after scoring just 16 points in the first quarter. The Nuggets fought back in the second quarter, but there was no stopping the Bucks in third quarter as they pushed the margin to 20 points.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their past eight games and they will be hoping to stay hot after outlasting the Bulls in a 107-104 road win on Saturday. Gabe Vincent led the team in scoring with 20 points and five assists off the bench, Kyle Lowry added 19 points with six assists, Jimmy Butler scored 18 points with five assists and five steals while Duncan Robinson chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Heat shot 43 percent from the field and 14 of 40 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early lead to fall behind by six points early in the fourth quarter, before going on a decisive 17-4 run to run away with the hard-fought victory. Tyler Herro sat out the game due to an illness and is listed as questionable for Monday.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games following a loss, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 0-5 ATS in their last five road games. The Heat are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the Nuggets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Miami and the Nuggets are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Heat are already missing a couple of players and they could also be without Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro who are both listed as questionable for this one. The Nuggets have their own injury concerns as they are sweating on the availability of Nikola Jokic who is questionable with a wrist injury. The line is a bit hefty, but five of the Nuggets’ last six losses have been by double-digits and I think that trend continues here. Give me the Heat to get the job done with a win and cover at home.
