The Charlotte Hornets invade the United Center to take on the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their past 10 games and they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak halted by the Rockets in a 146-143 overtime road loss on Saturday. Terry Rozier led the team with 31 points and five assists, Kelly Oubre Jr. added 23 points, Miles Bridges scored 22 points, Gordon Hayward scored 21 points while LaMelo Ball tallied a triple-double of 19 points with 11 rebounds and 13 assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 46 percent from the field and 20 of 50 from the 3-point line as they missed a chance to win it in regulation after rallying back from a 17-point deficit, only to come up just short again as Oubre jr. missed the potential game-winning 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds remaining in overtime.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their past four games and they will be eager to bounce back after falling just short to the Heat in a 107-104 home loss on Saturday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 28 points on 11 of 19 shooting, Alex Caruso added 22 points and six assists off the bench, Zach LaVine scored 16 points while Lonzo Ball chipped in with 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Bulls shot 46 percent from the field and 11 of 39 from the 3-point line as they fought their way back from an early nine-point deficit to take a six-point lead early in the fourth quarter, only to fall victim to an ambush as the Heat went on a decisive 17-4 run to snatch victory from them. Nikola Vucevic scored just seven points on three of nine shooting while Coby White scored just four points on two of eight shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Bulls are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss and 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games as a favorite.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Hornets are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Chicago.
The Hornets were one of the hottest teams in the league before they got stopped in their tracks by the league-worst Rockets on Saturday. The Bulls have cooled off a bit recently and they will be gutted after dropping a winnable game against the Heat in their last outing. I do prefer the Bulls to get the win at home, but I think this game will go down to the wire, so the points could be useful in this spot. Give me the Hornets and the points in what should be a close one.
