The Sacramento Kings and the Memphis Grizzlies duke it out at the FedExForum on Sunday night.
The Sacramento Kings have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their past 11 games, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the Lakers in a thrilling 141-137 triple overtime road win on Friday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 34 points and eight assists on 15 of 32 shooting, Buddy Hield added 25 points with six assists off the bench while Tyrese Haliburton chipped in with 19 points, nine assists and five steals. As a team, the Kings shot 45 percent from the field and 14 of 45 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 13-point third quarter deficit, before using a pivotal 8-2 run in the third overtime to pull away and escape with the hard-fought win.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in a bit of a slump as they’ve lost six of their past nine games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting blown out by the Raptors in a 132-100 home loss on Friday. Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 14 points; Dillon Brooks scored 12 points while Tyus Jones chipped in with 10 points off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 40 percent from the field and 12 of 38 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start and fell behind by 14 points going into halftime and things just went from bad to worse in the third quarter where the Hawks exploded for 43 points. Dillon Brooks shot just four of 15 from the field, Desmond Bane scored just nine points on four of 12 shooting while Ja Morant played just nine minutes before leaving the game with a left knee injury that should keep him on the sidelines without a timetable for return.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 road games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games playing on one days’ rest and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the under is 20-9 in the last 29 meetings overall, the Kings are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Memphis and the Kings are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
Harrison Barnes is listed as doubtful with a foot injury while Maurice Harkless is listed as questionable so the Kings will be shorthanded in this one, but the Grizzlies will obviously be without Ja Morant which is massive. The Kings have come to life with two wins on the trot and they will take plenty of confidence from their thrilling win over the Lakers on Friday. The Kings are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 road games and I think that trend continues here as they escape with the narrow win.
