The Atlanta Hawks play host to the New York Knicks at the State Farm Arena on Saturday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a real funk as they’ve lost five of their past eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting thrashed by the red-hot Suns in a 118-97 home loss last night. Kemba Walker led the team in scoring with 17 points, Immanuel Quickley added 16 points off the bench, while Evan Fournier chipped in with just 11 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 37 percent from the field and 12 of 39 from the 3-point line as they managed just 17 points in the second quarter to fall behind going into halftime and things only got worse in the second half where they trailed by as many as 24 points. Fournier shot just four of 15 from the field, RJ Barrett shot just three of 10 to finish with 10 points while Obi Topping shot just two of 10 off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been on fire lately as they will be aiming to build on their seven-game win streak after blowing past the Grizzlies in a 132-100 road win last night. Trae Young led the team with 31 points and 10 assists on 12 of 16 shooting, Clint Capela added 23 points with 17 rebounds and three blocks while John Collins chipped in with 21 points on eight of 11 shooting. As a team, the Hawks shot a sizzling 58 percent from the field and 13 of 27 from the 3-point line as they poured in 62 points in the first half to take a double-digit lead, before exploding for 43 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 40 points. With the game put to bed early, coach McMillan was able to rest his starters early which sets them up nicely for the second game of a back to back.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games playing on zero days’ rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Hawks are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on zero days’ rest, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Knicks are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Knicks are 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Atlanta.
The Knicks have really struggled for consistency lately, they’re a little banged up and low on confidence after getting routed by the Suns last night. Contrastingly, the Hawks have really hit their stride now and are coming into this one fresh off their most dominant win of the season so far. Derrick Rose is also listed as questionable for the Knicks, so I’m sticking with the Hawks to stay hot with another win and cover at home.
