The Phoenix Suns and the Cleveland Cavaliers duke it out at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been on fire lately and they will be looking to build on their current 13-game win streak after outlasting the Spurs in a 115-111 road win on Monday. Devin Booker led the team with 23 points, DeAndre Ayton added 21 points with 14 rebounds and three assists, Cameron Payne provided the spark off the bench with 20 points in 20 minutes while JaVale McGee chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Suns shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 27 from the 3-point line as they poured in 33 points in the second quarter to build an 18-point lead, before hanging on for the narrow win was the Spurs rallied with 36 points in the fourth quarter. Chris Paul scored just 12 points; Cameron Johnson scored just three points on one of six shooting, but the bench combined for 48 points.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in a rut as they are now riding a four-game losing streak after falling just short to the Nets in a 117-112 home loss on Monday. Darius Garland led the team with 24 points and 11 assists, Lauri Markkanen added 22 points, Jarrett Allen scored 20 points with 15 rebounds while Ricky Rubio chipped in with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists off the bench. As a team, the Cavaliers shot just 38 percent from the field and 14 of 44 from the 3-point line as they poured in 36 points in the second quarter to take a 12-point lead, only to see that lead disappear in the third quarter where they managed just 19 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Cavaliers are 20-43-1 ATS in their last 64 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in Cleveland and the Suns are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers have been one of the surprise teams of the league as they’ve really punched above their weight so far this season, but the injuries are starting to pile up now with Darius Garland now included in the injury report as questionable for this game. With that being said, the Suns have been in red-hot form and they’re not missing any key players so I think I’ll lean towards the Suns to keep their streak alive with another win in this spot.
