The Brooklyn Nets pay a visit to the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in red-hot form as they’ve won six of their past seven games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after taking down the Cavaliers in a 117-112 road win on Monday. Kevin Durant led the team with 27 points and nine assists, LaMarcus Aldridge added 21 points and 11 rebounds off the bench, Patty Mills scored 17 points while James Harden chipped in with 14 points and 14 assists. As a team, the Nets shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled in the first half and fell behind by 12 points, before taking over in the third quarter where they outscored the Cavaliers by 32-19. Cam Thomas was a real spark plug off the bench as he finished with 11 points in just 15 minutes of action, while Blake Griffin finished with just two points in nine minutes.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in decent shape themselves as they’ve won six of their past eight games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the slumping Rockets in a 108-90 home win on Monday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 30 points on 10 of 22 shooting, Jaylen Brown added 19 points, Dennis Schroder scored 18 points off the bench while Al Horford chipped in with 11 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 42 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they held the Rockets to just 21 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before blowing them out by 34-16 in the third quarter to lead by as many as 29 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games playing on one days’ rest. The Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Boston and the Nets are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
Jaylen Brown is questionable for this one due to injury management while Josh Richardson is questionable due to an illness, so the Celtics could be shorthanded in this one. You can make an argument for either side here as both teams are coming into this one with plenty of momentum. The Celtics are always tough to beat at home, but they might decide to rest Brown in this one, so I think the smarter play is with the Nets who are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
