The Washington Wizards play host to the Charlotte Hornets at the Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in fine form as they were riding a five-game win streak before getting stopped in their tracks by the Hawks in a 115-105 road loss on Saturday. Miles Bridges led the team with 35 points, 10 rebounds and three assists on 15 of 28 shooting, LaMelo Ball racked up a triple-double of 15 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists while Cody Martin chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Hornets shot 42 percent from the field and 10 of 40 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start and fell behind by double-digits after allowing 60 points in the first half and things only got worse in the second half as the Hawks pushed the margin out to 17 points, before easing off in the fourth quarter. Ball shot just five of 18 from the field, Terry Rozier scored just 10 points on four of 13 shooting while Kelly Oubre Jr. scored just eight points on four of 14 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in great form as they’ve won six of their past eight games and they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Heat in a 103-100 home win on Saturday. Bradley Beal led the team with 21 points and nine assists, Spencer Dinwiddie and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope each scored 16 points while Montrezl Harrell chipped in with 13 points off the bench, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line as they struggled in the first half and fell behind by as many as 16 points, before they used a pivotal 13-2 run late in the fourth quarter to escape with the unlikely win after trailing for most of the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Wizards are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games as a home favorite and 30-14-1 ATS in their last 45 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall and the Hornets are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
These two teams last met on Thursday, and it was the Hornets who prevailed in a 97-87 home win, and it was really about their defensive effort as they held the Wizards to just 36 percent shooting from the field which allowed them to run away in the third quarter. The Wizards are coming into this one fresh off a win over the Heat and they are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, while the Hawks are coming off a loss to the Hawks and they are only 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games. I think the Wizards get their revenge in this spot with a narrow win and cover at home.
