The Oklahoma City Thunder pay a visit to the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden on Saturday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their past four games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling short to the Bucks in a 96-89 road loss last night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team in scoring with 17 points, Josh Giddey and Mike Muscala each scored 14 points while Luguentz Dort chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Thunder shot just 35 percent from the field and 12 of 48 from the 3-point line as they allowed 34 points in the first quarter to fall behind by double-digits early, before seeing the deficit balloon to 20 points as the Bucks took full control. Gilgeous-Alexander had a rough shooting night as he made just five of 20 from the field, Kenrich Williams shot just two of nine to finish with seven points while Darius Bazley scored just seven points on two of seven shooting.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been building nicely as they’ve won six of their past nine games and they will be looking to stay hot after making light work of the Lakers in a 130-108 home win last night. Jayson Tatum led the team with a game-high 37 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, Marcus Smart added 22 points with eight rebounds and six assists while Dennis Schroder chipped in with 21 points and six assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 50 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line as they trailed for most of the first half after allowing 38 points in the first quarter, before taking over in the second half where they outscored the Lakers by 70-47 to make it a blowout in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games, 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Celtics are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days’ rest and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Boston and the Thunder are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Boston.
The Thunder have cooled off lately after a bit of a hot streak and their confidence took another hit after a slow start cost them against the Bucks last night. The Celtics are still missing Jaylen Brown, but they’ve continued to pick up wins and they will be feeling pretty good after last night’s dominant win over their old rivals. It’s tempting to take the Thunder with the points, but the Celtics are coming off their best win of the season and I think they can carry that momentum into this one.
