The Miami Heat and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Saturday night.
The Miami Heat have been in great shape as they will be looking to build on their current four-game win streak after blowing past the Wizards in a 112-97 home win on Thursday. Jimmy Butler led the team with 32 points, five assists and four steals on 11 of 19 shooting, Bam Adebayo added 20 points with nine rebounds and two assists, Gabe Vincent scored 18 points off the bench while PJ Tucker chipped in with 15 points on six of seven shooting. As a team, the Heat shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 26 from the 3-point line as they held the Wizards to just 40 points in the first half to take the early lead, before exploding for 36 points in the third quarter to lead by 18 points. Duncan Robinson scored just six points on two of nine shooting and the bench had an off night, but the Heat went with the hot hand of Butler and he didn’t disappoint.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been doing okay as they’ve won five of their past nine games, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after Thursday’s loss to the Heat. Bradley Beal led the way with 30 points, six rebounds and five assists on 11 of 18 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 19 points with 13 rebounds and seven assists while Montrezl Harrell chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds in a rare start. As a team, the Wizards shot 49 percent from the field and 15 of 36 from the 3-point line but they committed 17 turnovers to the Heat’s six and their lack of aggressiveness meant that they ended up with just 10 free throw attempts for the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. The Wizards are 7-1 ATS in their last eight home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points and 29-14-1 ATS in their last 44 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall and the Heat are 26-10-2 ATS in the last 38 meetings in Washington.
Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro are both listed as questionable for the Heat and Daniel Gafford is questionable for the Wizards. The Heat have been streaky this season, but they’re enjoying a good one right now as they will be aiming for a fifth straight win. The Wizards will be looking for revenge in this one after getting beaten on Thursday, but they need to take better care of the ball after committing 17 turnovers in the loss. I like the Heat if Adebayo suits up, but assuming he’s out, I’ll take the Wizards to get their revenge here.
