The Indiana Pacers pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Friday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost three of their last five games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short to the slumping Pistons in a 97-89 road loss on Wednesday. Malcolm Brogdon led the team with 20 points on eight of 17 shooting, Caris LeVert added 18 points while Domantas Sabonis chipped in with 15 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Pacers shot just 41 percent from the field and nine of 37 from the 3-point line as they poured in 32 points in the third quarter to rally back from an 11-point deficit, only to go ice-cold when it mattered most as they managed just 16 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Pistons to steal the game late. Myles Turner scored just six points on two of eight shooting while Kelan Martin scored just two points on one of seven shooting.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have come to life all of a sudden as they are now riding a four-game win streak after taking down the Wizards in a 97-87 home win on Wednesday. Terry Rpzier led the team with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Miles Bridges added 17 points with 10 rebounds and five assists while LaMelo Ball racked up 11 points with six rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 43 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line, but this win was about their defensive effort in the third quarter where they held the Wizards to just 14 points to take a 13-point lead after trailing for most of the first half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as an underdog and 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record. The Hornets are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 39-11-1 ATS in their last 51 games against a team below .400 and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Pacers are 3-11 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Charlotte.
The Pacers haven’t been at their best lately and they will likely be without Chris Duarte who is listed as questionable for this one. Meanwhile, the Hornets were one of the coldest teams in the league before coming to life with four wins on the bounce which includes wins over quality teams in the Wizards and the Warriors. The Pacers are only 3-11 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Charlotte and I think that trend will continue here as the Hornets stay hot with a fifth straight win at home.
