The Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies duke it out at the FedExForum on Thursday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been on fire lately as they’ve won eight of their past nine games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after beating the Spurs in a 106-92 home win on Tuesday. Paul George led the team with 34 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Reggie Jackson added 21 points with four assists while Eric Bledsoe chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 38 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start to take an early 12-point lead, before taking full control in the third quarter where they held the Spurs to just 18 points to push the lead to 18 points. Rookie Brandon Boston Jr. was a real spark plug off the bench as he finished with 13 points on four of seven shooting.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their past six games, but they will be feeling much better after stopping a three-game skid with a 136-102 home win over the Rockets on Monday. Ja Morant led the team with 22 points and six assists on nine of 15 shooting, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 18 points while Dillon Brooks chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot a healthy 54 percent from the field and 16 of 41 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 74 points in the first half to take the early double-digit lead and the lead only grew from that point on as the Grizzlies led by as many as 40 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games as a road favorite and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Grizzlies are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall.
No Grizzlies player played more than 25 minutes in their win on Monday, so they will be the fresher team in this matchup, but the Clippers are coming into this game as one of the hottest teams in the league right now as they’ve hardly missed a step in their last nine games. This should be a close one and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Grizzlies got the win at home, but they were really struggling before their big win over the slumping Rockets, so I actually think the Clippers represent decent value in this spot. The Clippers are 5-0 ATS in their last five games as a road favorite and I think that trend continues here as they escape with the narrow win.
