The Washington Wizards and the Charlotte Hornets duke it out at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their past 10 games and they will be looking to build on their current five-game win streak after taking down the Pelicans in a 105-100 home win on Monday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team with 27 points and nine assists, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 18 points while Montrezl Harrell chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they fell into an early 17-point deficit at halftime after scoring just 16 points in the second quarter, but they were able to claw their way back and escape with the narrow win by holding the Pelicans to just eight points in the final 6:10. Kyle Kuzma had a quiet night as he finished with just eight points on two of 10 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets looked like a mess during their five-game skid, but they’ve come to life and are suddenly gunning for a fourth straight victory after taking down the red-hot Warriors in a 106-102 home win on Sunday. Miles Bridges led the team with 22 points, eight rebounds and three assists, LaMelo Ball added 21 points with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals while Terry Rozier chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 47 percent from the field and 14 of 36 from the 3-point line as they showed plenty of toughness to hang in the contest until the fourth quarter where they held the Warriors to just 14 points to escape with the impressive win. Defensively, the Hornets did a great job of containing the Warriors’ Stephen Curry who made just three of 13 from the 3-point line
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 15-7-1 ATS in their last 23 road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Hornets are 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 games against a team above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
Head to head, the under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings in Charlotte, the Wizards are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings in Charlotte and the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Wizards are coming into this game with plenty of momentum as they are riding a five-game win streak, but the Hornets have come to life with three wins in a row and their confidence couldn’t be higher after taking down the league-leading Warriors in their last outing. The Wizards have been the more consistent team so far this season, but they were far from convincing in their narrow win over the Pelicans and they are just 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings in Charlotte. You can make an argument for either side here, but I’m leaning towards the Hornets to stay hot with their fourth straight win in this spot.
