The Detroit Pistons play host to the Indiana Pacers at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in decent form as they’ve won five of their past eight games overall, but they will be eager to bounce back in this one after having their two-game win streak halted by the Knicks in a 92-84 road loss on Monday. Malcolm Brogdon led the team with 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Domantas Sabonis added 21 points with 15 rebounds and three assists while Caris LeVert chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Pacers shot just 37 percent from the field and eight of 37 from the 3-point line as they held the Knicks to just 16 points in the first quarter to lead for most of the game, before going ice-cold when it mattered most as they scored just two points in the final 5:47. Justin Holiday scored just eight points after pouring in 27 points in the previous game, while TJ McConnell had a night to forget as he finished with just two points on one of eight shooting.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost 10 of their first 13 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back here after getting thrashed by the Kings in a 129-107 home loss on Monday. Saddiq Bey led the team with 28 points on nine of 17 shooting while Cade Cunningham added 25 points with eight rebounds and eight assists, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Pistons shot just 40 percent from the field and 13 of 47 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle after getting blown out by 31-12 in the first quarter, before falling behind by as many as 32 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Pistons are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Detroit and the Pacers are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Detroit.
The Pacers come into this matchup as the team in better form and they will be eager to come out firing after scoring just 84 points in an ugly loss to the Knicks on Monday. The Pistons have yet to hit their stride this season and their confidence took another hit after getting routed by the Kings in their last outing. Chris Duarte is questionable with a shoulder injury, so the Pacers could be a little shorthanded once again, but they are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall and I think that trend continues as they get the win against this slumping Pistons team.
