The Boston Celtics travel to the State Farm Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.
The Boston Celtics are starting to heat up now as they’ve won five of their past seven games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Cavaliers in a 98-92 road win on Monday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks, Al Horford added 17 points with nine rebounds and two blocks on seven of 10 shooting, while Marcus Smart and Dennis Schroder each scored 14 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they struggled early on and scored just 37 points in the first half, before taking control of the game with a pivotal 10-2 run in the fourth quarter to allow them to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks look to have recovered from their ugly six-game slide as they are now aiming for a third straight victory after making light work of the Magic in a 129-111 home win on Monday. John Collins and Trae Young led the scoring with 23 points each, while Clint Capela and Bogdan Bogdanovic each scored 20 points. As a team, the Hawks shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 14 of 30 from the 3-point line as they took a four-point lead into halftime after trailing by six points in the first quarter, before pouring in 69 points in the second half where they led by as many as 20 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a win and 7-0 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a win of more than 10 points and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Celtics are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Celtics are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Atlanta.
The Celtics will be feeling so much better after avenging their loss to the Cavaliers, but they will likely be even more shorthanded this time out as Robert Williams is currently listed as questionable for this one. The Hawks are sweating on the availability of Kevin Huerter and Bogdan Bogdanovic who are both currently questionable, but they’ve looked great in their last two wins. The Celtics are probably the team in better form, but all the injuries put more pressure on Tatum who has yet to find his groove this season. This should be a close one, but I’m sticking with the Hawks to take advantage of the Celtics at home.
